SERVICES - Lessons, Clinics, Schooling, Spelling and Rehabilitation.
Sharmayne and Michael pride themselves on offering a customized service to suit individuals – and their considerable experience means that generally no problem is too difficult to solve.
Heritage Hill offers agistment and schooling of horses at all stages, regular clinics and schools and individual or group lessons. As an EFA NCAS Level 2 eventing specialist and coach educator and a member of the NSW Pony Club paid instructors panel, Sharmayne is a popular guest instructor at camps and clinics around the country. Lessons in all three Olympic disciplines – dressage, show jumping and eventing – are available for riders at all levels at Heritage Hill and at other venues.

Michael’s talent, experience and gentle perseverance means Heritage Hill is able to offer a quality rehabilitation service. Sharmayne’s acute judgment combined with excellent communication skills ensures that she is a sought after instructor across the region. Her ability to explain concepts to riders young and old and to focus on specific issues results in happy riders who feel they benefit from every lesson.
Tranquil, individual paddocks with natural mountain protection, and an emphasis on safety, and checking details like hoof care mark Heritage Hill as a property that offers a quality service. “It is a lovely, quiet place that enables horses to have a mental break too – the only thing that will distract them is the peace and quiet. ,” he says.
Horses are initially placed in snug yards before being allowed into a larger space to minimise the risk of injury, and they are routinely rugged. “We can start on their fitness program before they go back to the track as our many hills and sloping terrain gives a long slow build up, without putting pressure on their legs, reducing stress and soundness issues” Michael adds. Heritage Hill aims to have only a handful of spellers at any time to ensure that Michael and Sharmayne can offer hands-on attention. “We aim to give horses a proper rest and we can arrange transport to and from Heritage Hill,” Michael says.
Immediate plans for Heritage Hill include a double-sided veterinary box in the stable complex. “If a horse arrives at Heritage Hill and needs box rest, they can go straight in there with the choice of straw or shavings depending on the vets’ recommendation, and the box will feature a bank of lights, heat lamps and equissage physiotherapy facilities,” Michael explains. “Horses here for rehabilitation are led out into paddocks or yards daily.
Sharmayne is a trained vet nurse and we have a veterinarian on call 24/7 and 20 minutes away,” he says.
Owners are always welcome to come and visit and spend the weekend at Heritage Hill.
I have been receiving coaching and training for my horse Eli and I since April 2009.
Before I went to see Sharmayne Spencer I had lost my nerve for riding and no matter what I did I just could not get my act together when in the saddle. Sharmayne first took Eli for a week of training before I commenced lessons with her. On my first lesson I could not believe the change in my horse. He was so much more responsive to my aids and Sharmayne gave me very basic (Which I needed!) but positive and professional instruction.
Six months of lessons later and I am now a confident rider enjoying riding and competing on my horse. We even scored in the high 60’s in my horse’s first dressage outing and my first competition in 20 years! Sharmayne has so much experience and knowledge in both dressage and jumping I know that she will always guide my horse and I along the right path.
I always enjoy my lessons and still can’t believe the difference in both my riding and my horse since we started with Sharmayne. I am now striving for goals I never thought would be possible! If you are thinking about getting a riding instructor no matter if you are a beginner or an elite competitor, then I thoroughly recommend Sharmayne Spencer. Sharmayne will be able to help you not just meet your riding goals, she will make you exceed them!

“It wasn’t until Sharmayne took me under her wing that I was properly introduced to Eventing. And I loved it from the word ‘go’! It seemed to be a sport made for me … and Shar understood that. She showed me odds and ends like how to shampoo properly and that good turnout is imperative.“
